Legends of the Canyon - Neu als "Director's Cut"

Im Wirbel um Neil Youngs Europa-Tour in diesem Monat ist eine interessante DVD/Blu-Ray-Veröffentlichung etwas untergegangen: Seit dem 4. Juni ist nämlich in Deutschland John Brewers interessante Filmdokumentation "Legends of the Canyon" als "Director's Cut" erhältlich.

Der Film über die in den späten 1960er Jahren entstandene West-Coast-Rock und -Hippie-Community in der Laurel Canyon Schlucht der Santa Monica Mountains am Rande von Los Angeles erschien erstmals 2010 direkt auf DVD. Der jetzt veröffentlichte "Director's Cut" enthält zusätzliches Bonusmaterial, darunter bisher unveröffentlichte Fotos und Super-8-Filme von Rock-Fotograf Henry Diltz, der die Laurel-Canyon-Szene  damals dokumentierte.

Der Schwerpunkt der von Henry Diltz erzählten Filmdokumentation liegt eindeutig bei "Buffalo Springfield", CSN&Y und Neil Young. Deren Entwicklung und Einfluss auf die Musikszene wird in Film-, Foto- und Musikdokumenten sowie in ausführlichen Interviews mit den Beteiligten dargestellt. Zum Paket gehört auch ein 20-seitiges Booklet. "Legends of the Canyon" gehört damit in jede Neil-Young-Sammlung. [Weiter ...]
